The SHiP Collaboration

SHiP is built and run by an international collaboration of universities and research institutes. Together they design the detector, build and test its subsystems, develop the software and simulation, and will operate the experiment and analyse its data.

The collaboration today

The collaboration is preparing for its Technical design reports, the final step before commissioning and is in the final prototyping stages to that effect, with all subsystems being nearly complete.

Organisation

The Collaboration Board is the collaboration’s decision-making body, with one representative per member institute. Day-to-day scientific leadership rests with the Spokesperson, while technical coordination oversees the construction and integration of the detector. Physics and detector working groups carry out the work itself.

Students and early-career researchers

SHiP benefits from a wide array of talented and enthusiastic young researchers, with even newcomers to the collaboration describing its atmosphere as akin to a (admittedly large) family. Young researchers within SHiP benefit from the opportunity to shape an experiment and its associated physics program from its early stages, allowing for significant experience to be accrued quickly.

Meetings and internal resources

Collaboration meetings, working group meetings and internal documentation are hosted on the collaboration site and on Indico. A CERN account is required for most internal material.
